Made from a piece of highly figured quilted Maple, this wood home accent is distinguished by it's truly remarkable chatoyance, a beautiful optical reflection found in certain gemstones and woods. The piece is given lift by a fine piece of Cocobolo Rosewood; the contrast between the two woods could hardly be greater.

This turning has been turned to a very thin dimension, making it almost a painting in wood. It was finely sanded and sealed; after sealing, Danish oil was rubbed into the wood, followed by hand rubbing with a combination of carnauba and beeswax in a light solvent. This finish has a very light and transparent quality. For decorative use only.
