Faces of the Future No. 3
The "Faces of the Future" series is a collaboration between wood artist Erik Wolken and Chapel Hill, NC, based painter and mixed-media artist Gray Griffin. The inspiration for the series came from Alex Wagner's book "FutureFace," about growing up in America of mixed ethnic background. The artists sought to create a series of abstract sculptural masks exploring that idea. They are constructed from laminated and carved oriented strand board, paint, and found objects.
