As an abstract landscape artist, Jeanne LaCasse sees landscapes in the abstract. After applying Japanese silver leaf to a large sheet of watercolor paper, she cropped and isolated areas that called out to her; the application of sumi ink—a black ink traditionally used in East Asian calligraphy and painting—provides contrast and highlighted the pattern. This painting is matted, shipped with a backer board, and is enclosed in a protective cellophane envelope. Signed on the back, it's not ready to hang.
